About Joe Bush
While I was growing up, my dad owned and operated a plumbing business and was a police officer in the Town of Kent which encompasses Lake Carmel, NY. I spent countless time after school, on weekends and evenings doing some type of plumbing installation or repair with my father. During and after high school, I worked at a plumbing supply wholesaler who trained and schooled me on well pump repair, testing and installation, well pump system components and customer service. Eventually, my father sold his plumbing business and retired from the police department. About the same time, a career opportunity became available for my father in Southeast Florida, my parents moved the family there.
Within a year of moving to Florida, I became a police officer. I worked for a total of 22 years as a police officer in Broward County, Florida. As I rose through the ranks of my department, I was fortunate enough to attend some of the best police training in the nation. While going up through the ranks, I was assigned to almost every division in the department during my career. I spent the majority of my time at different ranks in patrol and detective divisions. I was fortunate to serve my last two years as the captain in charge of investigations for the entire city.
During my police career, I worked (off duty) with another police officer who was also a licensed general contractor. During that time, I learned about new construction and remodeling in addition to performing the plumbing duties for the remodeling jobs.
The plumbing, construction / jobsite experience, the police experience and now my home inspection training and experience gives me a rather unique insight to buildings and properties. I know pretty well how a building should be built, how things should work and how to keep it as safe as possible.
I bring with me to each inspection, the above-mentioned experience, the knowledge of having bought and sold several homes of my own and a desire to thoroughly inspect the home of your choice and report my findings to you. Many inspectors tend to point out only areas of concern. I will point out areas of concern, safety hazards and Items that need repair. I will also point out the positive things the house and property has because you, the client should know that too. For example; There is a builder in this area who hires some very good electricians and their work is not only done well, but very neat too.
Although you do not need to be present at the inspection, it can be beneficial to you. If you prefer to show up near the end of my inspection to go over my findings in person, that’s okay too. I enjoy taking the time to inspect the home with you, the client, to answer questions, and to give advice about repairs. I am a field-experienced inspector and follow national standards as well as those of the State of Tennessee. Please read or review the following link to the InterNACHI® Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.
